A British employee of publishing firm ITP has avoided jail after being convicted last month in Dubai of having sex on a beach.
Michelle Palmer, 36, of Oakham, Rutland, was sentenced to three months jail by a Dubai court last month.
A Dubai judge has now cancelled the jail sentence.
Palmer was an associate publisher at ITP Publishing, which employs a large number of UK journalists and commercial staff on titles including Middle East versions of Time Out and Grazia. She was sacked by her employers in July as soon as the alleged incident came to light.
Vince Acors, 34, of Bromley, south east London, has also successfully appealed against his conviction for his involvement in the alleged incident.
Palmer has said that the ruling “proves our innocence after all the bad stuff that was written”.
The pair will still be deported and asked to pay a fine of £170.
The pair were arrested in the early hours of July 5 after meeting at a champagne brunch at a five-star hotel in Dubai.
