Condé Nast is launching a UK version of American technology title, Wired.
The monthly magazine will hit the newsstand early next year, and will be accompanied by a website.
The US edition of Wired launched 15 years ago and was bought by Condé Nast in 1998, and highlights ‘the role technology plays at the heart of the world we live in today”, covering business, education, culture, science, entertainment and politics.
Nicholas Coleridge, managing director of Condé Nast, said: “Wired is the market-leading magazine about how technology is changing the world; a highly influential and visionary title that explores ideas and innovation, culture, politics and business, and how technology impacts on contemporary civilisation. Our extensive research confirms that the time is right for Wired to be brought to the UK, and the British edition will offer advertisers an unduplicated readership of key opinion formers.”
The UK edition will be edited by The Jewish Chronicle editor and former editor of The Guardian’s websites, David Rowan. Publisher will be Jamie Jouning, who has been associate publisher of Condé Nast men’s monthly GQ since 2004.
Publishing director of GQ, Jamie Bill, will oversee both GQ and Wired as publishing director.
Condé Nast is also launching Wired in Italy in March next year, to be edited by Riccardo Luna.
