Chantelle Horton to edit More magazine

By Oliver Luft

Chantelle Horton has been appointed as the new editor of Bauer Media’s More magazine, replacing Lisa Smosarski.

Horton has been deputy editor of More for three years and will step into her new role when Smosarski leaves next month to edit Stylist, the upmarket free woman’s weekly being launched by ShortList Media.

Previously assistant editor then deputy editor of Bliss, More’s teen stablemate, Horton began her career at Emap as an editorial assistant on J17 magazine, rising to become features editor.

Horton joined More as the magazine moved from a fortnightly to weekly in 2007.

Jo Morrell, acting managing director of More, said Horton was appointed after a “thorough trawl of the best talent in the market.”

More is aimed at women in the 18-25 age group, it relaunched last year after its conversion to a weekly. According to the most recent circulation figures, it sold an average of 181,260 copies each week in the second half of last year.

Smosarski has edited More since November 2006. She had previously edited Smash Hits and Bliss.
