Emap’s Architect’s Journal has been relaunched with a stronger news presence.
The new look introduces two new sections: news upfront and a critics section at the back. The news section includes a greater number of news stories with more flexible word counts. The Critics section offers culture and entertainment writing for the working architect.
‘I wanted to introduce more high-quality writing to the magazine,’said the title’s new editor Kieran Long. ‘Previously it was a visually led design title.”
The online version of AJ has also been redesigned. Long said the team remained dedicated to news online, but the news changes in the magazine were part of an attempt to create more ‘cross pollination’between the two platforms.
‘We didn’t want to ghettoise the news team on to online, and it was also partly about doing what we can with the resources we have.’
He said the magazine and the online propositions could work as ‘discrete’experiences or work together for readers.
