A former intern at Grazia is set to become one of the youngest editors in the magazine industry with the launch of a new fashion title next month.
22-year-old Anna Thomas-Ismond is editor-in-chief at Rococo – a free, glossy women’s fashion monthly to be distributed nationwide from high-end spas, hotels and shops such as Harrods and Harvey Nichols from 15 June.
Aimed at 18- to 40-year-old professional women, the magazine describes itself as “delightful on the eye, and easy on the wallet” and will cover fashion from the high street to high end.
It plans to provide a platform for young up-and-coming creatives, both in terms of its own writers and photographers and the designers and artists featured in its pages.
Thomas-Ismond told Press Gazette: “Glamour provides affordable escapism from the dull recession. Our vision is to bring a luxury that is not defined by wealth but by style.”
After completing a fashion history degree, Thomas-Ismond worked as a fashion assistant at Grazia where she realised she missed writing, then became a buyer and merchandiser for Liberty.
“My passion for journalism led me to approach the Prince’s Trust with a business proposal,” she said.
Rococo will be available in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Brighton and Leeds with a first issue print run of 25,000.
Thomas-Ismond said the title aimed to increase its circulation to 50,000 by the end of 2009.
She said she hoped to improve the magazine’s web presence and one day launch the publication internationally.
Rococo will launch in London on 9 June with a performance from musician VV Brown, the title’s first cover star.
