WSJ Europe appoints Ben Rooney as technology editor

By Press Gazette reporters

Ben Rooney, the former editor of the Daily Telegraph’s website, has been appointed to the newly created role of technology editor on Wall Street Journal Europe.

In his new role Rooney will take charge of a new section providing news, commentary and analysis on technology business activity in Europe across print and digital editions of the Journal.

He will also cover start-ups, digital entrepreneurship, and gadget and service launches on a new technology blog and more widely across europe.WSJ.com.

Neil McIntosh, editor of europe.WSJ.com, said: “The business side of technology has always been a key component of The Wall Street Journal’s coverage in Europe, and Ben Rooney’s appointment will take it to great new heights.

‘We’re delighted to sign a web veteran who combines a first-class journalistic background with cutting-edge technical skills and understanding; a combination which will allow him to provide our readers with a unique understanding of the businesses and entrepreneurs shaping our future.”

Rooney started his career at the Daily Telegraph in 1991, soon moving to cover technology before being appointed launch editor of Daily Telegraph online in 1994.
