Microsoft is reportedly set to overhaul its MSN news portal, which will begin featuring content from The Guardian and other news outlets.
According to the Wall Street Journal, another news provider that will be entering a partnership with the site, the company wants to make MSN “a hub for the best content on the web”.
Microsoft corporate vice president Brian McDonald is quoted as saying: “We really want to be known for having the world’s best content and not be a content brand ourselves… With our content, we are never going to be best in class. Plus, that content push put us in conflict with other media partners.”
WSJ said the relaunched portal will incorporate more photography, premium content, social media and shopping tools.
According to Marketing Week, the overhaul will see MSN ‘curate’ content from its editorial teams alongside featuring media partner content.
MSN is believed to be in the top ten most popular news websites in the UK.
