‘Launch junkie’ editor Stefano Hatfield exits website for the over fifties High50 after two years

By John Reynolds

Stefano Hatfield, the former executive editor of the i newspaper and launch editor of now defunct Thelondonpaper, has left his role as editor-in-chief of High50, the online community for over 50s.

Hatfield had been in the role for around two years.

Hatfield is thought to have left the role in the past few weeks and his exit comes ahead of a restructuring of High50, which is looking to move away from a broad brush editorial offering and narrow its focus to cover the travel and financial services industries.

Hatfield joined High50 in May 2014 as its launch editor, before which he held a number of high-profile roles in newspapers, as well as being the editorial director of the London Evening Standard’s TV station London Live.

He has previously described himself as a “launch junkie” having been the launch  editor of News UK’s now defunct freesheet Thelondondpaper; the launch executive editor of the i newspaper, now owned by Johnston Press, and the launch editor of Metro in New York.

In his earlier career, he was the editor of the advertising trade title Campaign.

High50 was co-founded by the veteran advertising executive Robert Campbell and James Brown, who launched the internet firm espotting.
