Future's Techradar.com has appointed a new global editor-in-chief, Darren Murph.
The technology website, founded in 2000, now claims to attract 23m unique users a month, including 5m in the UK.
It has 20 editorial staff working in Bath, London, San Francisco, Sydney and New York. Currently the majority work in the UK, but "growth is focused on the US".
Murph was previously managing editor of Engadget between 2006 and 2013 and then senior vice president of editorial strategy at PR firm Weber Shandwick.
Working above editor-in-chief Patrick Goss and global managing editor Marc Chacksfield, Murphy will be based in New York.
He said: “It’s a tremendous honour to join the techradar family, and I’m grateful to be backed by a world-class leadership team at Future. The opportunities that await are staggering, and I’m eager to join a passionate crew that already has global reach and massive ambitions. We’ll push the boundaries of tech publishing, enabling our partners to engage in transformative ways and giving readers unfiltered, no-nonsense recommendations on what matters.
“We’re planning to expand our impact by becoming the go-to publication for reviews and tutorials on how to best utilise the technology that surrounds our lives. We’ll explore breakthrough events and uncover stories that would otherwise fly beneath the radar. We’ll be behind the scenes and ahead of the next big thing, informing and entertaining an audience that’s hungry for advice from those who live and breathe in this space.”
