Ex-GMTV and FHM pair join online lifestyle mag Blokely

By Press Gazette

Online lifestyle magazine blokely.com has hired former GMTV presenter Andrew Castle and ex-FHM deputy style editor Matthew Hambly.

Hambly joins on a fixed-period contract but with a view to being made editor on a full-time basis, with founder James York remaining editor-in-chief and focusing on the commercial side of the business.

York said: 'Matt is a highly talented professional and exactly the type of individual we are looking to recruit. His experience and confidence will add a significant amount of value to our editorial quality. These skills, mixed with Blokely's strain of innovation, should work perfectly,'enthused York.

'Whilst I always intend to be fully involved in the schedule and strategy of the site – I've always said I was acting editor – we're creeping our growth forward sustainably. I fully intend to pass the daily copy editorial reins over to the right individual so I can focus my time on the growth of the entire brand.'

Castle, meanwhile, will carry out celebrity interviews for the website in a new slot called "Andrew Castle meets…"

Castle, who has spent 10 years as anchor on GMTV's sofa, said: 'We have some great names from the worlds of showbiz and sport lined up to talk about their lives and loves.'

Castle's first interview is with tennis legend John McEnroe, which will be published on Thursday. 17 June.

Blokely has also hired two new sub-editors, Sam Chapman and Sam Tse.
