Death of marigold-wearing eccentric helps boost EDP monthly website traffic to 1m unique visitors

By Rushabh Haria

The Eastern Daily Press website has exceeded 1m monthly unique visitors for the first time.

Traffic was helped by coverage of Norwich City's victory over Ipswich Town in the football Championship and of Radio 1's Big Weekend festival in Norwich featuring rapper Snoop Dog.

The most popular story of the month was an affectionate obituary to Alvin Braithwaite, locally known as "Marigold". The eccentric retired print-worker gained local fame for directing traffic from crossings whilst sporting a pair of yellow washing up gloves.
