CNET managing director exits

By Press Gazette

Tom Bureau, managing director of CNET’s UK divison, is to leave at the end of June.

Bureau has been credited with helping transform CNET from a single business information website into the one of the UK’s biggest online-only publishers in the last five years.

He will be replaced by Jill Orr, currently head of consumer media for CNET Networks UK.

Orr joined CNET Networks in 1998 as business development director for Europe, moving to UK product development before being appointed head of consumer media in 2005, responsible for the launches of CNET.co.uk in 2005 and GameSpot UK in 2006.

Bureau said: ‘I’ve had a fantastic five years at CNET Networks UK and I am very proud to have helped build the UK’s biggest online-only publisher. It’s hard to leave but the UK media landscape is undergoing unprecedented change and it feels like there’s no better time to go back to my entrepreneurial roots. With Jill at the helm the company is in great shape for future growth and even greater success.”
