Times business and City editor Ian King is stepping into the shoes of Jeff Randall at Sky News.
King is taking the job of business presenter and will take on the role after Randall steps down at the end of March. Mark Kleinman remains Sky News City editor.
Sky News said in a statement: “Ian will be a lead voice in Sky’s business coverage and will present its daily business programme that tackles the top corporate stories of the day.
“The show, based at Sky’s City studio in the Gherkin, features hard-hitting interviews that put business leaders through their paces, analyses the big corporate news of the day, as well as helping to tell our viewers how these stories will affect their lives. He will also offer his expertise on big business stories across Sky News’ multiple digital products.
After starting his reporting career at The Daily Telegraph King worked at The Guardian and The Mail on Sunday before becoming business editor of The Sun in 2000.
Head of Sky News John Ryley said: “Ian’s credentials are impeccable. He is a powerhouse in business journalism and I know he will make a real impact with our viewers. The business beat has never been more important and I am delighted Ian has decided to join us and lead the talented team we already have at Sky News.”
