By Freddy Mayhew

Sky News has appointed Time defence editor Deborah Haynes as its new foreign affairs editor.

Haynes’s coverage of Iraqi interpreters working for the British Military won the Bevins Prize for Investigative Journalism and the Amnesty International UK Media Award.

Sky News director of news-gathering, Jonathan Levy, said: “Deborah is a brilliant journalist with nearly two decades of experience covering international affairs.

“Her appointment underlines Sky News’ commitment to original journalism and foreign news.”

Haynes added: “I look forward to being a part of the team that reports on the biggest stories around the world and why they matter.”

Haynes replaces Sam Kiley who left Sky News in January to join CNN.
