The Periodical Publishers Association has announced its shortlist
for the 25th annual PPA awards for editorial and publishing excellence.
Seventy-five judges reviewed the 900 entries in over 22 categories for this year’s magazine industry awards.
The
winners will be chosen in a second round of judging by a further 88
senior representatives from the publishing and media industries, and
they will be announced during a gala dinner on 4 May at Grosvenor
House, Park Lane, London.
The shortlist includes: Editor of the
year, consumer magazines: Phil Hilton, Nuts; Sue James, Woman &
Home; Jane Johnson, Closer; Conor McNicholas, NME; Sarah Miller, Condé
Nast Traveller; Lindsay Nicholson, Good Housekeeping; Susy Smith,
Country Living; Emma Soames, Saga Magazine; Mitzie Wilson, Delicious.
Editor
of the year, business and professional magazines: Robert Booth, BD; Tim
Burrowes, Media Week; Conor Dignam, Broadcast; Alastair McLellan,
Health Service Journal; Craig Smith, Marketing; John Welsh, Travel
Trade Gazette; Rob Willock, Contract Journal.
Writer of the year,
consumer magazines: Robert Chalmers, GQ; Stephen Dalton, Uncut; E Jane
