More than 250 souls braved the threat of rain at this month’s Schmooze and Booze networking event for young journalists at The Garden pub in Islington, north London.
But then the sun came out and the venue’s outdoor area and the barbecue came into its own.
Schmooze and Booze was set up by Daily Mail sub-editor Helen Lewis, who wondered why it was that middle-aged journalistsall knew each other while younger hacks didn’t.
The crowd at this seventh S&B event was the usual mix of hacks, flacks and hangers-on, and as the patio heaters were fired up, contacts were made and gossip exchanged.
