Photocopied flier updates rural weekly

By Press Gazette

An editor in one of the country’s most fiercely contested marginal
constituencies decided to rush out a photocopied flier giving the
results of the election on Friday morning.

Viv Hargreaves of The
Forester, a paid-for weekly in the Forest of Dean, explained: “My first
plan was to publish on a split run – two thirds on Thursday without the
result and a third on Friday as an election special.

“Eventually it was decided this was too costly.

“So
I decided on an election flier – a front page, mono apart from the
masthead – printed on our office photocopier and delivered by the news
team with a couple of helpers from circulation.

“It may sound primitive – but we were the first on the streets with the results from just before eight on Friday morning.”
