Former editor of Press Gazette Philippa Kennedy is heading out to Dubai to edit the local version of entertainment magazine Time Out.
Kennedy was editor of Press Gazette for four years until 2002 and was awarded the OBE for services to journalism in 2003.
During a distinguished Fleet Street career she held various jobs on the Sun, Daily Mirror and Daily Express. As news editor of the Daily Express she was the first woman to hold that job on a UK national daily.
Kennedy his heading out to Dubai today for a hand-over period but will be returning in October to help organise the London Press Ball.
Kennedy’s husband John (also on OBE) has been based in Dubai since March.
She said: “They are a very young andd vibrant staff and really enthusiastic so they will keep me on my toes. It’s a whole new adventure.
“There are a lot of opportunities for journalists out there, it’s a hugely expanding market.”
