Politics Home editor Paul Waugh is to join Huffington Post as its executive editor of politics.
Waugh, who was deputy political editor of The Independent for four years and the Evening Standard for six years, is also currently editor-in-chief of Dods, which publishes The House magazine.
Waugh, who has been in the Lobby at the Houses of Parliament for 17 years, said he wants to make HuffPo “as indispensable in the UK as it is in the US”.
HuffPo UK editor-in-chief Stephen Hull said: “Politics is a critical part of HuffPost’s DNA and I look forward to working with Paul immediately after the general election, when the real business of government is being done as we continue to ramp up our original political coverage.”
Waugh said: “Ever since it was launched ten years ago, HuffPost has established an impressive reputation as a ground-breaking and award-winning source of news and comment.
“Whether it's Washington or Westminster, politics is central to HuffPost's unique appeal and I intend to make the site as indispensable in the UK as it is in the US."
