Much loved former Fleet Street business journalist Tom McGhie dies aged 66

By Press Gazette

Tom McGhie, a long-serving Fleet Street journalist, died peacefully on 2 March aged 66.
He began his career on the Birmingham Post in the early 1970s before moving on to positions at the London Daily News, Daily Star and Glasgow Herald. In 1992 he became City Editor of the Daily Express covering strikes, manufacturing crises and Cold War relations between East and West, including a stint in Moscow.
In 1999 he joined the Mail on Sunday and worked as the paper's senior business correspondent until he retired in 2012. He was much loved by colleagues who appreciated his dry sense of humour and he was particularly known for his kindness towards junior staff.
