ITV political producer Gill Penlington has been appointed editor of the BBC‘s Question Time, replacing Ed Harvard who is taking a year-long sabbatical to study international relations in Bologna.
Penlington , who has been working for ITV on domestic and foreign stories, previously worked as a broadcast journalist on the BBC’s Daily Politics programme and BBC2’s Newsnight. Previously she worked as an analyst in the Political Research Unit.
She worked with Question Time host David Dimbleby as a producer on the UK’s election coverage for 2005, and during the 2004 elections in the US.
Executive producer of Question Time Steve Anderson said: ‘Gill arrives here with a brilliant track record, a thorough knowledge of the ways of Westminster and an impressive understanding of Question Time’s role.”
