Business journalist and broadcaster turned media consultant Nigel Roberts dies aged 61

Broadcaster and business journalist Nigel Roberts has died from a heart attack, aged 61.

Roberts worked as senior anchor at CNBC Europe and was also one of the original team on Channel 4 News.

Before CNBC, he edited and presented for the BBC including BBC World’s flagship business programme World Business Report, BBC1’s Business Breakfast and BBC2’s Working Lunch.

He also presented and reported for the BBC World Service, the Today programme and Radio 5’s Financial World Tonight.

In his most recent role as managing director of Strategic Media Intelligence, Roberts provided strategic media counsel, coaching and crisis management to European and US companies. 

He leaves wife Edwina, daughter Charlotte, stepchildren Tom and Emily and grand-daughter Elke.  

Friends said he will be remembered for his keen wit and acclaimed stand-up performances. 

The funeral is on Thursday 10 September at 4pm at St Marylebone Crematorium. The address is East End Road, Finchley N2 0RZ. Family and friends will raise a glass (or two) to him at The Clissold Arms, 105 Fortis Green, East Finchley, N2 9HR. Anyone who knew and loved Nigel is most welcome.
