A double date for PPA head

By Press Gazette

Economist Group chairman Helen Alexander stood down as head of the Periodical Publisher’s Association last Thursday, on the same day that she left the Economist.

Alexander has been at the helm of the magazine publishers’ association since 2005, and hands over to Peter Phippen, managing director of BBC Magazines.

Alexander said farewell to the PPA at the group’s annual summer reception in the Waldorf Hotel in London. Phippen was not there, because he was out of the country

Alexander used the event to present Jonathan Moore, from Condé Nast, with the PPA chairman’s award for his work on the PPA’s pass4press project.

In his citatation, the PPA said: ‘Pass4press is a set of guidelines to ease the supply of digital advertising to magazine publishers and their suppliers and is recognised as the industry standard for creating industry-standard PDF files for printing in the magazine sector.’
