Wanted man sends local paper picture of himself

By admin

A suspected burglar being hunted by police sent a picture of himself to the South Wales Evening Post complaining that he didn’t like a mug shot used of him in a previous edition of the paper.

Last month the paper ran a front page featuring the pictures of eight people wanted in connection with a series of burglaries and assaults.

Four of that group have since been caught but 23 year-old Matthew Maynard responded, the paper reported, by sending his own photo to the Post as a taunt to police.

The Post ran the picture of him standing next to a police van on its front cover today with the headline: ‘You Cheeky Burglar.”

‘Police have declined to comment on the provocative snapshot,’the Post reported today.
