Trinity Mirror ends publication of two weekly print titles

By admin

Trinity Mirror has ceased publication two free weekly print titles – The Birmingham Post Lite and Scottish business paper Business7.

The Birmingham Post Lite, publication of which Trinity Mirror says has been “suspended” – comes three months after its rival Birmingham Press similarly ended publication.

Birmingham Post Lite was launched in April last year as Trinity Mirror attempted to fight back against the Birmingham Press after it launched earlier that year with the intention of taking a bite out of the same ad market on which Trinity Mirror’s Birmingham operation relied.

Newspaper entrepreneur Chris Bullivant withdrew his Birmingham Press titles in October after admitting they were unable to compete with ad rates being offered by Trinity Mirror.

Trinity Mirror is also closing the print edition of its free Scottish weekly business newspaper, Business 7.

However, the title will continue as a website – with increased national and international coverage – and have its content carried in the Daily Record.
