Trinity Mirror acquires web design firm to boost sports publications

By Martin Stabe wirepost

Trinity Mirror has acquired web design and development consultancy Rippleffect Studio as part of its efforts to diversify revenue streams by offering customers online marketing services in addition to print.

The firm, which has offices in Manchester, Liverpool and London specialises in building sport, leisure and retail websites, was acquired for £3.2 million and up to £2.6 million more based on its performance over the next three years.

Rippleffect clients include Everton, Southampton, Celtic and Fulham football clubs. Trinity Mirror says the firm will complement its existing Sport Media business, which publishes specialist publications including matchday programmes for Liverpool and Everton football clubs.

Rippleffect is expected to generate revenues of around £3m in its first year of ownership, Trinity Mirror said in a press release this morning.
