Times and Sun to move into new office next year

By admin

The Times and The Sun will move into new offices in Wapping next year – under plans outlined by News International chief executive Rebekah Brooks.

The two papers will move into an office building across the road from News International’s London headquarters, according to Guardian.co.uk.

The current home of the Times, Times House, will be refurbished. Following alterations NI’s Sunday titles – The Sunday Time and the News of the World – will move into the building leaving the main Wapping building empty ahead of a planned redevelopment.

News International’s ultimate aim is to revamp the Wapping site and turn it into the headquarters of all News Corporation’s London business – which include Dow Jones, HarperCollins, MySpace and Fox.

However James Murdoch, chairman and chief executive of News Corporation in Europe and Asia, was forced to put these plans on ice because of the economic downturn and initial rejection of the project by Tower Hamlets council.
