Telegraph: FTSE100 is outdated, here is the Telegraph 20

By paulmcnally

The Telegraph has devised a new index to measure the success of British publicly listed companies.

The paper argues that the FTSE100 list of the country’s biggest companies includes a lot of firms that make all their money abroad and employ few British workers.

“The FTSE is becoming ever more like the Premier League, top teams now rarely field teams full of English players,” the paper says.

With the help of Thomson Reuters, the paper has drawn up the “Telegraph 20”. It includes the 20 companies that do the most of their business in the UK. Among them are the four big supermarkets, six big banks and insurers, BT, Vodafone and BSkyB.
