Sun admits Madeleine coverage could have been better

By paulmcnally

In its editorial leader this morning, the tabloid said “trashy ‘exclusives’ added to the grief of this tragically unlucky couple”.

“Some newspapers greedily pounced on any dodgy rubbish to increase sales,” it said.

“The Sun’s own coverage was sometimes less than perfect. But we are proud to have been praised by the McCanns for our steadfast support.”

Madeleine’s father, Gerry McCann, yesterday accused journalists of “the most sensational, untruthful, irresponsible and damaging reporting in the history of the press.”
