Indepedent weekly the Southwark News has beaten its target of securing 100 apprenticeships in 100 days in a bid to show businesses the benefits of setting up the training plans.
The scheme, called Challenge 100, was launched across the borough in September and has since resulted on 149 young people gaining apprenticeships with local businesses.
The idea was inspired when Southwark News discovered businesses were put off from setting up apprenticeships due to financial and time consumption issues.
The Southwark News campaign mirrored a scheme previously run by the Bristol Evening Post in conjunction with the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS).
