Simon Irwin, the former editorial director of the KM Group has resigned from the Press Complaints Commission.
Irwin, 47, said he resigned from the press industry’s self-regulatory watchdog following his departure from the KM Group. He declined to comment further.
Press Gazette revealed earlier this month that Irwin, who became editorial director of the KM Group in 2003, was on gardening leave from the company.
During his career he has also worked at the Western Mail, Cardiff, Derby Evening Telegraph, Coventry Telegraph and the Chad, Mansfield, where he started his career.
In October last year the KM Group cut 59 jobs. But in February it announced a fresh series of cuts, saying wanted a further 160 redundancies.
