Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi has succeeded in blocking publication of hundreds of photos, including images of topless and bikini-clad young women, at one of his Sardinian villas.
TV and newspaper reports over the weekend said Berlusconi had written to the Italian privacy watchdog.
Among those at the villa was an 18-year-old girl at the heart of an alleged scandal. Berlusconi, 72, has denied anything “spicy” in his relationship with Noemi Letizia. He said he went to her 18th birthday party because he happened to be in Naples that night and knew her father years ago from political circles.
But his wife Veronica Lario has cited her husband’s flirtations with young women as a reason she is seeking a divorce.
Berlusconi’s lawyer, Niccolo Ghedini, said the photos showed people in “situations that are absolutely normal” and none of those photographed was under age.
