Actress Scarlett Johansson has threatened to sue the UK edition of Cosmopolitan claiming that it made up quotes attributed to her.
The Independent reports that Johansson denies giving a quote about her marriage to actor Ryan Reynolds to the mag.
One of the disputed quotes says: “Ryan and I are in love and we’re enjoying evolving our relationship together”.
Her spokesman has claimed that the quotes were “absolutely fabricated”. Cosmopolitan’s owner NatMag said in a statement that the quotes were taken in good faith from an agency journalist.
It is not clear what legal action the actress could take – as the revelation that she is in love with her husband is hardly libellous or an invasion of privacy.
Press Gazette suggests she might have more luck pursuing her case with the Press Complaints Commission if she feels she has been wronged.
