Friends and family said goodbye to Sunday Mirror journalist Rupert Hamer at a private funeral in London yesterday, the Daily Mirror reports.
Those reading tributes included journalists Sam Greenhill, Sean Rayment and Piers Hopkirk. A memorial service is expected to be held some time in the next few months.
Hamer was killed in an explosion whilst embedded with US marines in Afghanistan on 9 January. Photographer, Phil Coburn, was seriously injured in the blast and is still in hospital.
The February edition of Press Gazette magazine (not available online) will include a five-page special report on war reporting in the wake of the death of Rupert Hamer.
