Richard Preston, assistant editor of the Daily Telegraph, has been appointed editor of the paper’s Saturday edition while Michelle Lavery is on maternity leave. He starts on 31 March.
Kathryn Holliday will become acting editor of the paper’s Saturday magazine.
Preston will also lead the editorial design and development team in improving “all sections of The Daily Telegraph”, the paper said today.
In ten years at the paper, Preston has worked as features editor, news editor and assistant editor, integration. He is currently essistant editor, comment.
Editor William Lewis said: “I am delighted that Richard Preston is going to step into this role. He has done almost all of the big jobs at the Telegraph and is therefore uniquely well placed to take control of Saturday’s Daily Telegraph and progress our future design plans.”
A new comment editor will be appointed “in due course”.
