Petition to wind up Laser Broadcasting

By Rachael

A petition has been published to wind up Bath FM owner Laser Broadcasting Limited, reports Radio Today.

The broadcaster, which owns a number of stations across the UK, was reported to be in financial difficulty last month when it was revealed that it had failed to pay the rent for its Watchet based station Quaywest 102.4 for two years.

The winding up petition was lodged by one of Laser’s creditors, the Capital North East Partnership.

According to Paul McNally’s blog, David Cameron has written to Ofcom voicing concern to chief executive Ed Richards over reports that the radio group owes a former employer money.

Ofcom did not confirm it had received the letter, but said it was ‘monitoring developments closely”.

In February 2008 a petition was issued to wind up Laser station Fresh Radio, but it was dismissed by bosses as a formality for an old company name.
