Oxford student Henry Zeffman, 21, has been announced as the winner of the 2015 Anthony Howard Award for Young Journalists.
Zeffman won the award for his 5,000-word essay examining the political engagement of career politicians who have lost their seats in elections.
As winner he will receive successive fellowships with The Times, Observer and New Statesman and receive £25,000.
"It's such an honour to have won the Anthony Howard Award, and I'm absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity of working on three brilliant publications over the coming year,” Zeffman said.
“We’re currently experiencing a really exciting time for British politics…I can’t wait to get started.”
The award was established in memory of writer, editor and broadcaster Anthony Howard and is sponsored by the Haymarket Media Group.
