Conservative MP Stephen Barclay has claimed that Ofcom spent £200,000 on newspapers and magazines last year.
In a House of Commons Debate on public finances (reproduced on Theyworkforyou.com), the MP for North East Cambridgeshire said the outlay came despite the broadcast watchdog only having 800 employees.
He said: ‘Ofcom even managed to spend £200,000 on newspapers and magazines, but it has only 800 employees, which works out as more than one free newspaper a day for every member of staff.”
