Ofcom is to have its annual budget slashed by almost a quarter in real terms from tomorrow.
Its budget for 2011/12 will be £115.8m – down 22.5% – as the media regulator attempts to “reshape and refocus” what it does.
Ofcom said today that the budget cut was “in response to the challenge facing the public sector more generally”.
The body began a review of its spending early last year, ahead of the Government’s spending review which concluded in October.
