Number of BBC ethnic minority executives down

By colinc

The BBC has fewer senior staff from ethnic minorities now than four years ago, figures in Broadcast magazine show.

Only 4.3 per cent of management are from minority backgrounds, about 40 out of 1000 senior executives, Broadcast said.

The figure is down from 4.4 per cent in 2004 when the then director general Greg Dyke set a target of 7 per cent by 2008.

The BBC plans to “fast track” young employees from ethnic minorities.
