NME launches paid-for iPhone app

By admin

Magazine publisher IPC Media has today launched a paid-for iPhone application for its NME music title.

The new app, which is available for £1.19 at the iTunes App Store, features breaking news, bespoke lists of news and information about artists, exclusive photos and video and concert ticket listings.

“The NME app is a must for any genuine music fan. From now on users will be the first to be alerted about that vital tour announcement or onstage bust-up wherever they are,” says Anthony Thornton, group digital editor, IPC Inspire.

“It’s a best-in-class app that features premium NME content plus offline browsing and an interface that makes it one of the most engaging music news app available.”

The launch comes after the Audit Bureau of Circulation revealed earlier this month how far sales of the print version of NME had fallen.

NME suffered a year-on-year circulation slump of 17.3 per cent in the first half of 2010 as sales of music and film titles slumped. NME had an average weekly circulation of 33,875 in the six months to the end of June.
