Nigerian Watch newspaper plans 50,000 fortnightly print run

By Darren Boyle

A newspaper catering for the Nigerian diaspora is increasing its print frequency to once a fortnight following its successful launch in 2012.

Nigerian Watch was launched as a monthly publication in May 2012 with a monthly print-run of 20,000. This was increased to 50,000 several months later.

Now it has been decided to increase the publication’s frequency. Each issue will contain 24 pages featuring news, business, sport, lifestyle and politics sections.

According to the newspaper’s managing director Maryanne Jemide: “With 2014 a landmark year for Nigeria – our nation celebrates its centenary; Super Eagles play at the World Cup in Brazil, Team Nigeria participate at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow; and the 2015 Presidential Election gains pace – this is the most opportune time to increase frequency.

“Our readers have been so positive about our newspaper and the abundance of content this year means that we can now give them more of what they love. We look forward to hearing from readers and advertisers alike what they think about the new fortnightly Nigerian Watch.”

Nigerian Watch is a free newspaper disturbed across the UK in a range of supermarkets and independent stores as well as “upmarket” hotels in Lagos and Abuja in Nigeria.
