News Associates London wins prize for best course at NCTJ awards

By Jack Fenwick

News Associates London came away with two prizes at the NCTJ course performance awards this week.

Courses at the Wimbledon-based journalism school claimed the best performing course and best performing independent fast-track course prizes.

Its multimedia sports journalism course came out on top of the ratings after achieving a 100 per cent gold standard pass rate.

NA London’s multimedia journalism programme came away with the independent fast-track accolade.

An NCTJ gold-standard is achieved by returning A-C grades in all exams plus 100 words per minute shorthand.

In the NCTJ-accredited degree results tables, the University of Sussex came out with the top postgraduate qualification for its Master of Arts course.

The best performing undergraduate degree went to the Bachelor of Arts for news journalism at Nottingham Trent.

City of Wolverhampton College claimed the best performing further education course award for the fifth year running.

BBC Midlands Today presenter Nick Owen, who presented the awards, said: “Behind the success of each of those students will be a team of dedicated trainers and educators.

"All of those who teach on accredited courses should be congratulated on achieving the high standards the NCTJ sets on behalf of the industry.”
