The Independent on Sunday media diary says ex-Telegraph editor Martin Newland’s UAE English-language daily will be called… The National.
And a domain name look-up reveals thenational.ae is registered to Emirates Media Inc, which is owned by the paper’s backer, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
But a Dubai-based media blog has been calling the paper “The Nation” for some weeks now, and ArabianBusiness.com has recently reported that the title is thought to be “The Nation”.
Thenation.ae and nation.ae are both registered to the name of Newland’s online editor, Luciana Blackwell.
