Newsquest’s operation in the West Midlands has plans to further centralise sub-editing functions at a regional ‘hub”, a report has claimed.
Newsquest Midlands has proposed moving subs from its Stourbridge office 27 miles to Worcester.
The planned move affects more than a dozen local paid-for and free newspapers, according to Holdthefrontpage.
Subbing ‘hubs’serving a number of newspapers are becoming an increasingly common way for large publishers to reduce costs. Johnston Press recently proposed transferring production of its North East newspapers to Sheffield.
