MP accuses BBC of double standards on pay transparency

A Northern Ireland MP has accused the BBC of double standards for failing to publish the salaries of top presenters while its journalists put the salaries and expenses of members of the Northern Ireland Assembly under close scrutiny.

DUP MP Gregory Campbell has written to director general Mark Thompson calling for the corporation to “get its house in order”, the News Letter in Belfast reports.

THe BBC publishes has consistently refused to answer Freedom of Information Act requests for television personalities’ salaries, citing privacy exemptions to the Act.
