The National Council for the Training of Journalists has released figures for its NCE exams in November last year – 52 per cent of students made the grade. That’s compared to 45 per cent in November 2006 and 49 per cent in November 2005.
Journalists normally take their NCE after a year or so on a newspaper, having completed their NCTJ preliminary exams at college of university.
Those who failed will have to wait until May to try again.
