The prosecutor in the Meredith Kercher murder trial has announced he will take legal action over claims in a US paper he is “mentally unstable”.
Giuliano Mignini reacted angrily after comments in the West Seattle Herald by supporters of co-accused Amanda Knox.
Mignini’s complaint refers to an article last month covering an event with the “Friends of Amanda” – a Knox supporters’ group, in which his mental stability was brought into question.
Knox and former lover Raffaele Sollecito are accused of murdering University of Leeds student Kercher in her bedroom at the flat she shared with Knox in 2007 after she refused to participate in a sex game.
A third accused, Rudy Guede, 22, has already been found guilty of her murder and sentenced to 30 years in prison.
