A new local newspaper for Peckham has gone to press ahead of its launch on 21 January.
Four locally-based journalists, including editor Mark McGinlay, are behind the paper which will come out six times a year and aims to have a focus on strong design and photographs.
They raised £5,000 in September 2013 to fund the first two issues, with 150 local residents making contributions.
Explaining why he decided to launch the paper, McGinlay told Press Gazette: “We love local news and love the local area.”
The first cover has been designed by local artist and graphic designer Jake Tilson.
Some 8,000 copies will be available at train stations and other outlets.
McGinlay previously told Press Gazette: “We love local newspapers and we passionately believe that hyperlocal news isn't just for the internet. While social media is a great way of engaging with the local community, not everyone is online. We want our paper to be as inclusive as possible and accessible to all.”
The Peckham Peculiar now has over 2,000 followers on Twitter.
