Half a million people visited the Liverpool Echo’s website to view forum user ‘Confused’s’ mysteriously accurate predictions for the Champions League draw last Friday.
More than 700 people filled 56 pages of comment in reply to the post that baffled UEFA and readers alike when it revealed that match draw results 90 minutes before the draw took place in Switzerland.
Adding a bizarre twist to the tale, the poster, who remains anonymous, has since told the paper that the tip-off came from Goa in the form of a ‘one-off’ phone call.
Despite some public scepticism, UEFA spokesman assured fans that the draw was “150% legitimate”.
